SHIMIZUZAKA PARK – Splash, Slide, and Space to Explore | Kita, Tokyo

スポンサーリンク

Welcome to Tokyo Free Parks, your go-to guide for discovering Tokyo’s best free outdoor spots. Today, we’re heading to Shimizuzaka Park in Kita City — a park that truly has it all: nature, adventure, and space to relax.

🏞️ Space – A Vast and Scenic Hilltop Park

Covering over 20,000 square meters, Shimizuzaka Park is known for its dramatic elevation changes and the breathtaking panoramic views. Whether you’re looking to explore, relax, or just breathe in fresh air, this park offers plenty of room for everyone.

At the heart of it is a spacious 4,500-square-meter lawn area, a perfect place for picnics, running kids, or simply lying back and cloud-watching. This large green space is a favorite among families, especially on weekends.

🎢 Slide – The Iconic 52-Meter Roller Slide

One of the park’s most exciting features is the 52-meter-long roller slide that winds its way down the slope. Renovated in 2020 for added safety and comfort, it’s become a must-try attraction for children and adults alike.

Hip sliders are available for free rental at the park office, so you can jump in and enjoy the ride with ease!

💦 Splash – Water Play in a Natural Setting

From May to September, the park transforms into a water play paradise. Inspired by a mountain stream, the splash area features artificial flows of water, stepping stones, and even a frog-shaped water fountain that sprays water out of its mouth—adding fun and surprise to your visit!

The water is shallow—just ankle to knee-deep—making it safe for young kids to play in. There’s also a shower area nearby for rinsing off after a good splash, so don’t forget your sandals and a change of clothes.

Learn and Explore – Nature Fureai Information Center

Inside the park, you’ll find the Shizen Fureai Johokan (Nature Interaction Information Center), where you can learn about the local ecology. The center displays insects, plants, and fish native to Kita City, making it a great stop for curious minds.

Opening hours: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM
