Welcome to Tokyo Free Parks! This time, we’re introducing Shinden Sakura Park, a riverside retreat located along the Sumida River in Adachi, Tokyo.

A Spacious Green

Shinden Sakura Park is a popular weekend destination for local families. The park stretches about 25,000 square meters along the Sumida River, with approximately 16,000 square meters dedicated to a massive open lawn—one of the largest in Adachi Ward. It’s a perfect place for a family picnic or playing ball with young children, offering a sense of openness and freedom.

In spring, the park bursts into color with a variety of blooming flowers, creating a cheerful and vibrant atmosphere.

A Long Roller Slide

One of the park’s main attractions is a large-scale play structure that takes full advantage of the spacious grounds. Kids especially love the long roller slide built into the slope of the levee. At approximately 21 meters, it holds the record as the longest slide in Adachi Ward! It’s a favorite among local preschool and kindergarten field trips.

You’ll also find other large play structures, where children can often be seen playing with endless energy. For toddlers aged 3 to 6, there are also smaller slides and a sandbox　designed just for them.

In the summer, the park opens a water play area called Jabu-Jabu Pond, where kids can splash around and cool off.

From Kitasenju Station, West Exit Bus Stop #3; Take Rout 45 bus bound for Oji Station, and get off at “Hear Island Minami.” (14th stop・20 min.-ride) Walk 2 min.
